The needs of your skin are constantly fluctuating. What your skin needs to look and feel its best can change depending on your age, the season or climate, your diet, stress levels and even your hormonal cycle. My favorite winter face moisturizer (hands down) is Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream. It’s affordable, easy to find and really does an amazing job of keeping my face hydrated, soft and supple.
Benefits of Hydro Boost Gel-Cream
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream is part of Neutrogena’s line of hyaluronic acid containing skin care products. The key ingredient in the line is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that’s found naturally in our skin and other tissues. It’s essential for maintaining moisture in your skin.
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream is marketed as being for “extra-dry” skin. However, it’s far from oily and thick. It is very light and absorbs super readily into the skin. It is lightweight, oil and fragrance free, and contains no dye additives. After applying it, you really won’t feel it on your skin at all. It is readily absorbed.
Unlike some moisturizers that you can feel on your skin long after you’ve applied them, after using the Hydro Boost Gel-Cream, you won’t feel it at all. What you will feel is noticeably softer, super hydrated feeling skin. After using the Gel-Cream, my favorite sunscreen glides smoothly over my skin.
Products with hyaluronic acid are amazing for dry and dehydrated skin, since hyaluronic acid can hold many times its weight in water. This is helpful if your skin tends towards dryness. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream will aid your skin’s barrier against moisture loss.
Hyaluronic Acid Benefits
- Moisturizes the skin
- Regulates inflammation
- Reduces appearance of fine lines
- Re-plumps skin
- Reduces dullness
- Soothes redness
- Speeds wound healing
- Has antibacterial properties
Another great benefit of the Hydro Boost Gel-Cream is the fact that it’s affordable. It’s under $17 dollars at most retailers. You don’t always have to spend an arm and a leg for an effective skin care product.
How I Use Neutrogena Hydro Boost
I use the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream once or twice a day during the winter months. During summer, I tend to use it only daily. It never leaves my skin oily looking or greasy—and I definitely tend towards an oily looking t-zone. No problem with Hydro Boost. In the mornings I use it after my vitamin c serum and before my sunscreen. In the evenings, I use it after washing and before my Retin-A. I don’t always use it twice a day—it really just depends on how my skin is feeling.
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost line also includes a serum, cleansers and body lotions. It also includes a broad spectrum non-comedogenic (won’t cause acne) sunscreen, which contains hyalauronic acid too. Check out this post from JustNatoya.com about the Hydro Boost sunscreen. Unlike some sunscreens, this one didn’t leave a white cast on her skin!
